I am reminded of various platform games from the SNES days such as Tomba, Megaman, Castlevania and all of the best platformers added into 1 modern game. This is actually a better remake of a platformer than Mighty Number 9 which was supposed to be a remake of Megaman.This game is very impressive and I've spent over 3 hours playing this game last night without getting bored. That is an accomplishment since I don't often spend more than 2 hrs on video games on average.Looking forward to playing it again tonight, it's quite challenging and fun to see upgrade as you progress in this game.The value is also great, you will not be dissapointed!. Having a lot of fun with this one. Addictive, lots of weapons and gear, leveling system, fun and varying enemies, quests and allies to complete\/find, a base to build up and defend, procedurally generated map that changes if you die, lots of replayability, enjoyable story (love the diary pages), I could probably go on.My only complaint centers on how you upgrade the base... I fel like it should be as days pass, not as time passes. 5.5 hours for me to upgrade the workbench.... I mean, come on.. It was hard for me to consider whether to recommend the game or not. I decided to recommend, but if you are interested in the game, read until the end before deciding to buy.This is a metroidvania-like game with a different concept from what I've seen so far. While the idea and the game itself seems well done, it's filled with bugs and poor design choices. Frankly, I only recommend it for metroidvania platformer fans, and only if you do not care about achievements or finishing all side quests. Between what I can only call "clunky" combat, bundled with imput delay and high enemy damage, topped with enemies stealing most of your items " 'cause RNJesus" leads to a very unenjoyable experience.... Toy odyssey is a generic rougelike with a frustrating mechanic that penalizes you for something the game does not go a good job of explaining. The combat is lacklastur as there does not seem to be weapon combos so it's all single sword swipe, or a projectile weapon usage. The art is very pleasing on the eyes and it has a decent weapon crafting system. Playing with a controller i have found that originally when unlocking the dash that it would not work but reloading the game fixed this, randomly after dashing sometimes the character will freeze in place and be immobile except for jumping up or dropping down.Overall I would not say this game is amazing but that some people could find it fun.I do not recommend for people seeking out a standard rougelike adventure.. Does this game sound interesting? Good, now go play rouge legacy instead.. During my first play session I got really frustrated, this game is pretty difficult but the roguelike qualities of the game makes up for this by allowing you to keep all the treasures you've found before death. You use these treasures and materials to craft new weapons and defensive stuff to protect the bedroom that acts as your main base.The visuals of the game are great, I love the artwork the whole aesthetic reminds me of the Sega Saturn game Clockwork Knight. Your own character, Brand, can be customized with various cosmetic pieces that are bought and can be changed around to any previous combinations of past purchases.If you like metroidvania games or roguelikes then you will probably enjoy this game. I'd recommend getting it on sale though.. one of my new favorite games. This game you go on quests. level up but as a toy.prosreplay value 8/10con none so far. A must have if you love action rpg's random rooms, lots of upgrading and crafting. Lots of dying. It's a lot like the castle game where you die you build up your character type based on the tier system. It's got lots of unique bad guys weapons and the sort. Creepy music as well. Crying babies will be heard..
